Hague apostille for Spanish and foreign documents
An apostille is a certificate confirming the authenticity of the signature and seal on a public document, so it is valid in another country that has signed the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961. Who issues the apostille for a Spanish document?
It depends on the document. Court documents are apostilled at the High Court of Justice (Tribunal Superior de Justicia) of each region, notarial documents at the relevant Association of Notaries, and administrative documents at the Ministry of Justice or the High Court of Justice. We identify the competent authority and handle the appointment or the online application.
Foreign documents
A document issued outside Spain must be apostilled in its country of origin before it can be used here. Through our international network we arrange the apostille at source and then the sworn translation into Spanish of the whole set.

What comes first, the apostille or the sworn translation?
In most cases the original is apostilled first and then everything, apostille included, is translated. Some countries also require the translation to be apostilled; we check before we start.
What if the destination country is not part of the Hague Convention?
Then an apostille is not enough and the document needs consular or diplomatic legalization. We handle that too.
Is an electronic apostille valid?
Spain issues electronic apostilles for many documents, which can be verified online. Acceptance depends on the receiving authority, so we confirm which format you need before applying.
