Consular legalization of documents
When a Spanish document has to be used in a country that is not part of the Hague Convention, an apostille is not enough: the document must go through a chain of legalizations ending at the consulate of the destination country. How the legalization chain works
The usual route includes signature verification at the ministry responsible for the document (for example Justice or Education), legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, finally, legalization at the destination country's consulate in Spain. Commercial documents usually also go through the Chamber of Commerce.
